Robotics
The Irwin Robotics Club gives students the opportunity to experience the world of robotics, by learning how to follow design instructions, build, and program robots, using Lego SPIKE Prime systems. Students will also learn how to work cooperatively with a team member, as well as with coaches and their peers. As students expand their knowledge, they will be introduced to First Lego League robotic missions, giving students a greater understanding about robots and what makes them tick. By the end of the school year, club participants will prepare for an end-of-year school expo or competition, during which they will demonstrate their creations and compete for prizes and medals. The Irwin Robotics Club is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. Participants are selected via lottery, as there are only 16 slots open each year (8 students per grade level). Final selections pending teacher report of acceptable behavior and passing grades.
