Ms. Angelique Johnson
Biography
Ms. Angelique Johnson is from a military family and was born, raised, and educated in Norfolk, Virginia. She attended and graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Education in 2000. She received her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Wingate University in 2008. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree from Liberty University with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction.
Ms. Johnson began her career in education in 2001 as an elementary school teacher in Suffolk Public Schools. In 2003, she joined Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools as a language arts teacher where she successfully taught for eight years.Â
In 2011, Ms. Johnson joined DoDEA as an Instructional Support Specialist at Shughart Middle School. In 2013, Ms. Johnson transitioned into school administration with DoDEA, serving as assistant principal with a dual appointment at Barkley and Van Voorhis Elementary Schools. In 2015, Ms. Johnson became the Principal of Van Voorhis Elementary School where her knowledge, expertise, and creative thinking supported continued growth and development of the staff and students. In 2023, Ms. Johnson served as the Principal of Scott Intermediate School. During her tenure in administration, she has led school teams through change, strategic processes, and improved school climates. Ms. Johnson has held various roles to include elementary and middle school teacher, team lead, department chair, accreditation chair, teacher leader, and teacher mentor.Â
Ms. Johnson has a strong passion for education and serving military families. She is deeply committed to DoDEA’s mission to educate, engage, and empower each student to succeed in a dynamic world. She believes in building and supporting strong community-school partnerships that involve all stakeholders in the learning process. She envisions school as a place where students have fun learning and exploring, teachers are passionate about teaching, parents are involved, and all stakeholders are committed to providing educational excellence for every student, every day, everywhere.Â
Mrs. Johnson is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother of four. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, journaling, cruising, and spending time with her family.
