Fall painting by an Amazing Mustang Artist

The fourth and fifth artists started the year out with a "calligram" project.  A calligram is a a word or piece of text in which the design and layout of the letters creates a visual image related to the meaning of the words themselves.  They are actually pictures drawn with words.  Students first filled out a survey about themselves and we used those words they used to describe themselves as the "lines" for our drawing.  We used photographs of ourselves and some technology to create the drawing and then filled in the words.  A picture really is worth a thousand words!

Second and third grade artists jumped right into art this year by doing a painting as our very first project.  These fall trees reflecting in a body of water taught us lots of tips and procedures to follow in the art room as well as creating a beautiful work of art absolutely worthy of framing!  What a colorful way to start the year!
